Learning outcomes:
  • Apply a structured diagnostic and screening framework to identify tendinopathy and individualise management.
  • Apply evidence-based clinical tools for maximal strength, eccentric strength, isometric strength, stretch shorten cycle and athletic power assessment and monitoring.
  • Implement a load management framework to manage tendon pain and guide patients through progressive loading while reducing risk.
  • Understand the role of the stretch-shorten cycle framework in restoring tendon function.
  • Utilise a structured rehabilitation framework that provides a clear system for developing tendon stiffness and adaptation, muscle output and tendon elasticity.
  • Use prefilled exercise progression diaries for each common lower limb tendinopathy to simplify rehabilitation planning.
  • Design plyometric and energy-storage exercises appropriate for athletes and patients returning to running, walking, field sport, jumping sports and sprinting.
